GLOBE FISH
So I had a dream a few weeks ago about this funny little creature called a Globe Fish. While I don't remember the context of the dream very vividly, my memory of the creature was ingrained in my head - so I made up a story about him. Since Halloween is fast approaching, it seemed like a great avenue for a little mini-comic. It will be self-published as a small 8-page mini-comic. I'm going to hand a few out for free on Halloween, so if you want one drop me a line!

Creative Quarterly 16 - Runner Up!
Creative Quarterly magazine issue 16 was just released. While I didn't win a high enough award to be printed in the edition, my runner-up award is the best I've done so far. I submitted "Upwards in Fall".

Isabella Geriatric Center - A Night in the Heights
Last night, I participated in an art auction through the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMMA) and the Isabella Geriatric Center on 190th St & Audubon Ave. in New York City.

I had two original pieces at auction: April Abstract & Life In Yellow - both 6"x6" abstractions that were quite popular. These pieces were precursors to my book Stray Thoughts, and are some of my favorite pieces. Both pieces sold at the auction, with a large portion of the proceeds going back to the Isabella center and to NoMMA. Thanks to everybody who attended and provided such amazing feedback! The photo below shows my pieces in the black frames with black matting to the bottom left.
Blog Change!
I've gotten a lot of requests to produce a regular blog, detailing the various events and experiences I have been having with my art and design work. If anyone has any questions or comments, please send me an e-mail and I'll answer them with a blog post.

Featured Commentary: Eric A. Kreuter, Ph.D.
Inner City PerspectivesThe imagery in Stray Thoughts portray the possible perspectives of life in a large city by the city itself. This is possible only in art or story where inanimate objects can be given metaphorical life. The expressive pages of this book invite the viewer to contemplate the essence of each page. They can observe the flow of colors and ideas, as well as the unconstrained nature of deeper inner thoughts.
City life is a composite of hustle and bustle with a mosaic of colors and sounds unique to a large and diverse population. The city "feels" and "sees" the action of the people through footsteps, music, construction, transportation, and general movement.
There is a certain rhythm to the flow of activity and also a definitive, uncontrolled chaos. Traffic typically moves in definable patterns, whereas pedestrians move in every conceivable direction. Imagination leads one to wonder where everyone might be going. The city also "wonders" as the movement occurs surrounding it, over it, and under it.
In Chris' imagery you will be structures, everyday items, and people. In these items and faces you can see impressions of feelings brought out in context with the flow of movement. Life works similarly where people can be observed in the context of the current moment. We might judge what they say or feel based on their reaction to the same surroundings. This book shows us another view of others by recognizing that we are interrelated to their surroundings, and therefore have direct impact. By repressing our judgement, we may achieve a more harmonious sense of community, even in a large city. Thus, the rushing bicyclist is appreciated no differently than the old woman feeding pigeons from a park bench.
(Chris's Note: Eric's interpretation of drawing within the present moment appears in the two square images at the bottom of Page 11 of Stray Thoughts)
